About Cassingles:
There are a million music podcasts chasing clicks.
This isn’t one of them.
Cassingles is a longform conversation show hosted by husband-and-wife team Chris and Courtney Dawn just outside of Portland, Oregon. This show is built on the belief that music isn’t background noise. It’s a heartbeat. A survival tactic. A map back home.
Every episode dives deep with artists, songwriters, producers, scene legends, lifers, and beautiful people who’ve spent their lives creating something real. Not just the polished success stories — the bruises underneath them.
The records that almost didn’t happen. The addictions, reinventions, friendships, breakdowns, near-misses, and midnight drives that shaped the songs people tattoo onto their lives.
This is a show about the human beings behind the noise.
Chris brings nearly three decades of experience as a touring musician, songwriter, interviewer, and educator. Courtney brings experience as a teacher, administrator, intuition, emotional depth, spiritual perspective, and the rare ability to make guests feel safe enough to tell the truth.
Together, they create conversations that feel less like press junkets and more like sitting on a couch at 1:13am with the tape still rolling.
Some episodes are hilarious.
Some get heavy.
Some feel like therapy disguised as punk rock folklore.
That’s kind of the point.
Guests range from underground heroes to platinum-selling artists, hardcore legends, country songwriters, alternative icons, and people who helped shape entire scenes without ever getting the credit they deserved.
At its core, Cassingles asks one question:
What does music save inside a person?
Because songs aren’t just entertainment.
They become timelines. Memory markers. Ghosts. Lifeboats.
Sometimes a three-minute song explains a life better than a hundred conversations ever could.
So this show exists for the people who still believe albums mattered.
For the kids who read liner notes.
For the ones who built identities out of scratched CDs, burned mixtapes, warped cassette tapes, and songs that arrived exactly when they were needed most.
This is Cassingles.
Music is a heart map.
